Accidental Compliments are the Nicest Kind
Have you ever told someone your age and heard their surprised response, “I didn’t know you were that old.” and you know that they genuinely mean it?
How about this - you show up to work and one of your co-workers comments “I’m so glad you’re here. When I looked at the schedule I thought I was working with so-and-so.”
To me, those accidental compliments have always meant a little more than the overt ones because, at least in my mind, they seem more genuine, less calculated, and not designed to flatter.
Well, tonight I received one of those from my wife via email. Her message was short and to the point.
It read: I thought of you when I saw this Sprite commercial.
Reason number 973 in a long list of reasons why I know I married the right girl.
