Weighing in at 227 grams

Yesterday the alarm rang at 6:30am and instead of the usual dread associated with getting up early, we both got up with the anticipation of a 6-year-old eager to see what Santa left under the tree. One of our friends was kind enough to get up early on an off day and watch McKenna. So after we dropped her off, we headed for the big wicked city and our scheduled genetics counseling and Level II Diagnostic Ultrasound.
We ended up getting the same ultrasound tech that we had last time. She gooped up my wife’s belly with the belly jelly and started probing around while I sat there half pretending to understand what I was looking at. Down the list she went - 10 fingers: check, 10 toes: check, 4 chamber heart: check, 3 vessel cord: check, 2 kidneys: check, baby weight: 227 grams: check. And after she had identified and measured all the landmarks that she was supposed to, she went looking for the naughty bits.
Now this is one of those times, and trust me - they are infrequent, that I was right and my wife was wrong. We’re having another girl!
