And Baby Makes Four

Positive Pregnancy Test
Perhaps it’s an occupational hazard, but when I’m approached by something covered in urine I usually run for the closest box of large gloves. But when April woke me up the other morning with a smile on her face, a urine covered test stick in one hand, and the phrase “Congratulations again” I could not have been happier.
Yes, that picture up above is of the actual home pregnancy tests, and yes, we really did it twice. As you can see from the bottom test, the darkness of the line is not overly convincing, and despite the instructions on the side of the box reading “ANY color change, even a faint one, indicates a positive result” we felt the need to drop another $15 on the idiot proof digital read out test that confirmed our happy news.
So, are we ready for this? I still consider myself a novice at this whole parenting thing. I feel like the guy who just ten minutes ago mastered how to juggle three balls at the same time and now notices someone about to throw in the fourth. Time to pick up the pace and try not to drop anything. Everyone should be so lucky to have such problems.
So, for all of the women reading this that are wondering about specifics. By our math, the actual due date will be May 20th, but we haven’t had the first ultrasound yet to confirm gestational age. Girl or boy? We don’t know yet. Will we find out? Of course. Initially April did not want to, and I did, but the torment that I would put her through for the next 7 1/2 months proved to be too daunting a prospect. By torment, I mean purposefully buying pink clothes one day and blue the next, or whispering “I know something you don’t know” in my best Jon Lovitz nasally voice right before bed.
For the record, I think it’s another girl, but she thinks it’s a boy this time.
